Christians United for Israel
The purpose of Christians United For Israel (CUFI) is to provide a national association through which every pro-Israel church, parachurch organization, ministry or individual in America can speak and act with one voice in support of Israel in matters related to Biblical issues.
CUFI was started by Pastor John Hagee in 2006, and has paralleled his and other’s calls for violent defense of Israel, including preemptively striking Iran. Hagee is an abomination to San Antonio, Texas and the Earth, who is spewing obvious fallacy; his entire argument against Iran is predicated upon Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s “wipe Israel off the map” quote. This “quotation,” in fact, was never uttered by Ahmadinejad!
If we’re tempted to write Hagee off as a nutcase (especially those SA locals who know about his dirty laundry at Cornerstone Church/School), consider his political ties to GOP power brokers, from Bush/Cheney to Lieberman/McCain. The implications of CUFI’s nationalist, ultra-right wing [political action committee], allied with American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and corporate power is truly frightening. Here is a man preaching to sheeple across the country that they will only be saved when the destruction of Jerusalem and Jesus’ second coming happens (and after Israel takes ALL the Palestinian lands), yet at the same time, he lobbies government and lobs jeremiads for nuclear Armageddon in the Middle East!
The guy drives me crazy, the organization scares me…but I saw this video today and noticed that Zion Oil & Gas sponsored CUFI’s “Night to Honor Israel.”
